Time flies when you’re surrounded by books. If you’ve always been one to lose yourself to literature, you have to check out Southern California’s oldest independent bookstore with its very own in-house wine bar.
Vroman’s, the famous Playhouse District bookshop, is all about creating a welcoming environment suitable for customers that travel from near and far to get their fix, so why not truly make their establishment a reader’s paradise by offering a selection of wines from Los Angeles and beyond? Their charming beer and wine bar is known as the 1894, which is the year the bookstore opened.
Their selection of local craft beers, wines, and literary-themed cocktails are paired perfectly with your favorite book. In fact, if you’re looking for a place to host your next book club, this may be the most ideal spot to do it. Book and vino lovers alike can look forward to varieties of wine by the glass or bottle, as well as flights and wine-based cocktails like the Huck Finn Mule which is made of huckleberry tea and soju. They also offer special literary cocktails, like their Of Martini and Men drink, a pear sake take on the martini.
In our honest opinion, Vroman’s is one of the best bookstores that we have left. In a city that is constantly changing, adapting to ‘the new’ while still holding true to your roots seems to be the only way to survive. By the looks of it, this 126-year-old book store isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
