Sitting at nearly 1,000 feet high over ground level, 71 Above is not just the highest restaurant in the city, or even California, but the highest restaurant west of the Mississippi River.
The fine-dining experience offers 360Âş views that stretch over the city, from the Pacific Ocean to the San Gabriel Mountains, and is currently open to the public for lunch and dinner services.

71 Above’s modern American cuisine is crafted by Chef Javier Lopez. The menu boasts items like Japanese Sea Bream Crudo and Grilled Ribeye. Reservations are available on their website.
Where is 71 Above?
The restaurant resides in the U.S. Bank Tower, which was the tallest building in the city until the completion of the Wilshire Grand Center in 2017. It’s 73 stories tall and 1018 feet high, only 82 feet shorter than the Grand Center.
The building recently underwent a $60 million renovation. The U.S. Bank Tower also features a rooftop helipad, one of the tallest in the entire country, at over 1,000 feet above ground level.
It was previously home to a 1,000-foot-high glass slide and observation deck. These features closed permanently in 2020.

Is there a dress code?
There is a dress code if you’d like to dine at 71 Above! The website describes the dress code as smart casual, while encouraging “polished elegance” and jackets.
The following items are not permitted: hats, baseball caps, shorts, sweatpants, excessively ripped jeans, flip-flops, beachwear, and athletic attire.
Large bags, duffle bags, and backpacks are also not allowed in the dining area, and are required to be checked at coat check.
