Organizers have officially revealed ‘Stars Align’ as the slogan for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
This new motto acts as a rallying cry for athletes, volunteers, and fans to come together.
The LA28 Committee shared that the concept means “the stars align when dedication meets a generational moment.” It builds on the original bid slogan, ‘Follow the Sun’, shifting the focus to creating something extraordinary together.
When do the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics start?
The Olympics return to L.A. for a historic third time. The Opening Ceremony is set for July 14, 2028. Competitions will run through July 30, 2028.
The Paralympic Games follow from August 15 to August 27, 2028.
Fans can expect the action to start early. Field hockey, basketball, rugby sevens, water polo, handball, and cricket kick off on July 12, two days before the ceremony.
This year’s schedule includes a major twist. Track and field and swimming are swapping typical weeks. Track events will take over the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum during the first week.
Swimming moves to the second week at SoFi Stadium. The first medal will be awarded in Venice Beach for the triathlon.
What is new for the 2028 Olympics?
The 2028 games will be massive, featuring 351 medal events. That is 22 more than Paris 2024.
Several sports are making big moves. Flag football makes its Olympic debut. Lacrosse returns to the medal lineup for the first time in over a century.
Baseball, softball, and cricket are also making highly anticipated comebacks. Fans will also see new mixed team events in golf, archery, coastal rowing, table tennis, and athletics.
The Look of the Games
The core graphics for LA28 take inspiration from Southern California’s legendary superblooms. The official emblem features an interchanging dynamic ‘A’ to reflect the diversity of L.A.
Creators like Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish, and Allyson Felix have already contributed unique designs for the brand.
The slogan debuted in a campaign spot set to “Can’t Stop” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Over the next two years, the city will continue to bring ‘Stars Align’ to life through local athletes and communities.
