Southern California’s favorite spooky pet tradition is officially back this weekend.
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, the 25th annual Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade returns to Marina Vista Park in Long Beach.
Over 350 costumed dogs are slated to march, compete, and celebrate Halloween in high style.
Whether you want to enter your own pup into the judged costume contest or simply watch from the sidelines, here is everything you need to know before heading out:
Custom floats and pop-culture canine couture
Every year, owners go all out crafting one-of-a-kind outfits and mobile floats for the procession.
Spectators can expect everything from playful pop-culture tributes to massive movie sets.
Past parade favorites have featured a Chihuahua tucked into a McDonald’s Chicken McNugget box, wagons packed with Toy Story green aliens, and dogs sporting Los Angeles Dodgers jerseys.
You will even spot massive rolling creations, including a sequined Emerald City castle complete with ruby slippers and an Alice in Wonderland scene lined with oversized playing cards and red roses.
Beyond the runway, the grounds host an open vendor fair alongside fun pet activities, including a pop-up ball pit where dogs can splash and play off-leash.
The schedule: vendor fair and parade kickoff
The festival grounds open early so guests can browse stalls and settle in along the route:
- Vendor fair hours: 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Human parade kickoff: 2:28 p.m. (costumed kids and adults without dogs step off first)
- Dog parade kickoff: 2:30 p.m.
- Parade duration: Roughly 40 minutes
Registration fees and spectator seating
Attending the event as a spectator is completely free. If you want to walk in costume without a pet, humans can register and join the front procession at zero cost.
For those bringing pets or looking for seats, here is how the pricing breaks down:
- Spectator admission: Free
- Dog costume competition entry: $10 advance registration per dog through Friday night (or $20 on event weekend), with all entry fees directly benefiting the non-profit Community Action Team (CAT)
- Chair rentals: Visitors can bring their own folding chairs to sit in the second row for free, or rent one of roughly 500 front-row seats for $6 cash on-site (exact change requested)
The event takes place at 5355 E. Eliot St. in Long Beach. Pack a blanket, bring your camera, and get ready for one of the most delightful Halloween runways in the L.A. area.
