A popular Indigenous makers market is returning to Downtown Los Angeles this weekend, bringing together local and visiting artists, independent businesses, and community organizations at The Broad.
LA NDN Flea – A Native Market will take place on November 7th and 8th in collaboration with The Chapter House. The market celebrates Indigenous creativity and culture during National Native American Heritage Month.
Modeled after flea markets found on many Native American reservations, the event features a range of handcrafted goods, including recycled clothing, handmade jewelry, original artwork, ceramics, and more. It’s also an opportunity to meet the artists and makers behind the work and support Indigenous-owned businesses.
What to expect at LA NDN Flea
Beyond the shopping, visitors can enjoy curated DJ sets, food and beverage vendors, and opportunities to connect with local Indigenous organizations and community groups.
Families can also take part in a hands-on art workshop inspired by Jeffrey Gibson, a Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and Cherokee artist whose work is featured in The Broad’s collection. Participants will explore identity, culture, and community through colorful, personalized flag-making.
Visitors can also pick up a free, limited-edition poster featuring Gibson’s artwork She Never Dances Alone (2020).
The event is organized in partnership with The Chapter House, a Los Angeles organization dedicated to celebrating Indigenous art, culture, and community through creative events and collaborations.
