Aerosmith fans have been on the edge of their seats this year amid the illustrious rock band’s “Peace Out: The Farewell Tour.” The tour was a highly-anticipated goodbye lap to close out Aerosmith’s unbelievable legacy dating all the way back to 1970 in Boston. Devastatingly, the band has announced an abrupt retirement from touring, and all of the remaining shows have been canceled. This includes the show planned for December 7, 2024 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
The band posted a statement on Friday explaining that singer Steven Tyler, 76, cannot perform anymore due to a severe vocal injury. Those who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded, and those who purchased through third-party sites are directed to reach out to their respective sellers.
“He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side,” the statement reads.
“Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”
Aerosmith previously postponed shows due to Steven Tyler’s injury back in September 2023, later announcing 39 new tour dates throughout the U.S. in April of this year. The tour was scheduled to begin on September 20th in Pittsburgh and run through February 2025.
Californians were gearing up to see the band in late November and early December, with shows at San Francisco’s Chase Center, San Jose’s SAP Center, and Inglewood’s Kia Forum. Of course, these and all other dates are no more.
“A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth,” the band wrote. “Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”
