We can’t wait to spend full days in here!
Last year, Amoeba announced the permanent closure of the beloved Hollywood location. With many businesses shutting down for good during the pandemic, Angelenos naturally assumed the institution would be yet another causality. However, owners announced that it was a strategic decision to help them stay afloat and would allow them to focus their efforts on developing the new space down the road at 6200 Hollywood Boulevard.
Although the famed music destination was teetering on the edge of closure, their determination to survive led to the launch of a GoFundMe page and streamlined use of those funds. The closure of nonessential businesses made it the perfect time to work on renovation in the location and now, after almost a year, we’ve been teased with a few shots on the Amoeba Hollywood Instagram.
“Here’s another sneak peek inside our new location at 6200 Hollywood Blvd!,” the latest post reads. “We don’t have a reopening date yet, but we’ll let everyone know when we do,” it continues.
It may only be one story, but it has varying levels but it looks primed for the ritual of flipping through the beautiful vinyl covers with infectious songs transporting you to another world.
