The beginning of 2025 was one of the toughest times for the city, due to the massive wildfires that broke out in the surrounding areas. Because of this, several nearby zones have remained closed to the public for months. But fortunately, things finally seem to be getting back to normal.
According to official sources, several areas of Angeles National Forest will reopen starting this weekend, specifically on Friday, April 11. Among the areas that will once again be open to the public are:
- Chantry Flat Recreation Area
- All of Gabrielino National Recreation Trail
- Gould Mesa Campground
- Switzer Picnic Site
- Sturtevant Trail
- Sturtevant Loop
- Upper and Lower Winter Creek trails
The news comes just as spring kicks off, and right on time for those who love the outdoors and are planning weekend getaways filled with camping, stargazing, or simply a scenic mountain hike.
