Hot, dry conditions are returning to Southern California this week as a significant warming trend combines with the season’s first strong Santa Ana winds. Temperatures are expected to soar, with record highs possible by midweek.
Record-Breaking Heat Possible Midweek
Los Angeles and Orange counties will warm quickly, with highs reaching the upper 80s on Monday and climbing into the lower 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Inland areas, including the valleys and the Inland Empire, could see even higher temperatures.
Heat Advisory in Effect Across Multiple Counties
The National Weather Service warns that record highs are possible. A heat advisory is in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening for parts of Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. Officials urge anyone spending time outdoors, including fans attending the World Series, to stay hydrated and be prepared for unusually hot and dry weather.

Strong Santa Ana Winds Expected Tuesday
The Santa Ana winds will return with gusts of up to 30 to 40 mph across Los Angeles and Ventura counties on Tuesday. The winds may persist into Wednesday but are expected to weaken slightly.
Slight Cooldown Later This Week, But Above-Normal Temperatures Persist
A gradual cooldown is forecast to begin Thursday, though temperatures will remain above normal through Halloween on Friday.
