The Pacific Palisades Wildfire, which began earlier this week, has now escalated into the LA Fires, the most devastating blaze in the city’s history. Due to the widespread tragedy, including both human and material losses, several highly anticipated award events for the season have been postponed.
The Critics’ Choice Awards, originally scheduled for January 12, have been rescheduled for January 26 due to the catastrophic fires.
The Annual AFI Awards luncheon, set to take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Friday, has been postponed, along with the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, also scheduled for the same day. The Producers Guild Awards have delayed their nominations from Friday to Sunday.
In the meantime, the Oscar nominations have been moved from January 17 to January 19, with the Film Academy extending the voting period to accommodate members affected by the fires.
The 2025 Academy Awards are expected to take place on March 2 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
