Caffeine is what gets LA going in the mornings, and there are plenty of coffee shops around to fill those needs. Whether you’re just stopping in for a quick pick-me-up before or after work, looking for a spot to study or even just to catch up with friends, we’ve made picking where to go easier. Here are the best coffee shops around L.A. for a perfect cup of Joe.

1. Habitat Coffee

Habitat Café has a myriad of options for the most careful eater ranging from a vegan and gluten-free menu to a variety of salads. As of now, the café is open for outdoor seating, with take-out and delivery options also available for breakfast and lunch.

Hours: Sunday -Monday 7am-3pm.

2. Board House Coffee Shop

Board House is a coffee shop that looks to inspire and provide the local community a unique escape from the stresses of life, whether for five minutes or a few hours. Along with your seasonal pumpkin spiced latte must-have, you can also get paninis, baked good, and even stick around for a beer!

Chimney Coffee House has evolved to be the spot for creatives, professionals and families alike. And while their coffee is great, their teas steal the show. If you’re looking for a lighter caffeine fix, try their refreshing new Blended Thai Rose Tea Latte!

Coffee for Sasquatch is a sanctuary away from the Los Angeles hustle where you can sit back and enjoy your lavender iced latte amidst a cozy urban jungle. Coffee for Sasquatch offers teas, coffees, espresso, macchiatos and a handful of other flavored drinks.

6. Alfred Coffee Melrose Place

A coffee shop with a stylish perspective. Alfred is a coffee shop designed with the complete customer experience in mind. While their tagline may be “But first, coffee” (which, to be fair, who’s isn’t?) their mission is, “for every person to walk out of [their] cafes as thrilled with their experience as they are with their drink.” Both a tea and coffee house with several locations throughout Los Angeles county, they serve up cool vibes and delicious coffee.

7. Verve Coffee Shop

A quaint coffee shop located and brewed in Santa Cruz, Verve Coffee take their roast seriously, and oversee the complete coffee experience, from seed to cup. There are also several locations throughout the Los Angles area that serves raw juices, wheatgrass shots, and shakes.

8. Philz Coffee Shop

Located in Downtown Los Angeles, Philz Coffee Shop prides itself on having over 20 customized blends from all over the world. They even have their own roasting plant in Oakland, California!  According to the shop, their unique blends bring together different cultures and flavors.

9. Urth Caffe

With over nine locations serving the California area, this café has certainly made its mark. Urth Caffe offers a little bit of everything, from full blown breakfasts to pecan sticky buns, but their spiced chai and adorable latte art is what wins us over. They also have milk teas, green tea boba, and so much more.

10. Tilt Coffee Bar

This small coffee bar serves up coffee that’s as good as it is pretty. Their most recommended creation? The “cloud mocha” and “cloud latte” (one is only served hot, the other cold). It’s a heavenly mix of espresso, chocolate, milk, and cold cream.
