Traditional outfits with suspenders, lots of dancing, and of course, plenty and plenty of beer! Oktoberfest, the ultimate German festival, fills cities around the world with festive spirit every fall. And in the U.S. specifically, there are certain places where Oktoberfest is truly memorable.
That’s why the prestigious site USA Today launched a survey with hundreds of thousands of votes, aiming to select only the very best of this beer-filled celebration. The results? The beloved alpine town of Big Bear Lake landed an impressive second place among the best Oktoberfest celebrations in the U.S.
The Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest runs across several weekends, lasting practically during the entire fall season, wrapping up in early November. Over 50 years ago, back in 1969, German immigrants Hans and Erika Bandows founded the festival to celebrate the food, music, and traditions they grew up with in Munich, USA Today explains.
This year, Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest started on September 6 and will last until November 8, at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center. The festival offers a variety of activities, including live German music, traditional food, and beer tastings with free admission on Sundays.
