There’s something magical about giving old treasures a new life… It could be a vintage mirror with a story to tell, a mid-century lamp that lights up a room just right, or a quirky collectible that sparks nostalgia.
For antique lovers, the thrill lies in the hunt: sifting through decades of history, style, and craftsmanship. California is full of spots where you can do just that, but one massive location in L.A. County stands out from the rest.
Tucked away in Whittier, just southeast of L.A., is a historic building that once fueled the region’s economy, and now fuels the imaginations of antique lovers. Originally built in 1902 and expanded in 1904, the Whittier Citrus Association packing house was one of California’s largest citrus hubs.
Today, the building lives on with a new purpose. Now known as the Whittier Packing House, it’s home to King Richard’s Antique Center, the largest multivendor antique and vintage mall in the state, operating since 1979. When walking through its 50,000-square-foot space, you’ll find around 300 dealer booths spread over four floors.
In this place, you won’t be just browsing collectibles and furniture, but stepping into a piece of California history. The past isn’t just on the shelves, it’s in the walls, the floorboards, and the spirit of the place itself.
Famous not only for its impressive size, the space has also been featured on shows like the reality series Storage Wars and Barter Kings. Among its many offerings, it specializes in lighting, tables, seating, and art. And the best part? Appraisal Days, when they offer antique appraisals for art, jewelry, coins, furniture, household items, and much more!
It’s the perfect spot to bring in your own forgotten treasures, find out what they’re worth, and maybe walk away with a few bucks in your pocket. Then, go on a shopping spree for rare and unique finds, all under this historic roof!
