Sip and cycle your way through some gorgeous scenery.
Wine and a set of wheels might be the best possible way to discover the breathtaking Santa Monica Mountains while enjoying the fruits of the land. Hop on a beautiful, retro-colored electric-assist bike and ride through the scenery of Saddlerock Ranch with the wind in your hair (if you’re a fast pedaler) and warm California sunshine on your skin.
Beyond this sensory feast, the acres of land hold a rich and fascinating 300-year history. It’s also home to a range of exotic animals like zebra, camel, giraffe, llama, alpaca, yak, highland cows, and more. So you can continue the adventure with a wine safari if you’re up to it.
You’ll stop along the way to take in the most picturesque vistas around Saddlerock’s vineyard and all the quirky art installations dotted around the landscape, including old wagons, an airstream trailer, and a wooden door that opens up to the heavens. Of course, you’ll need something to quench your thirst as you coast through the winding paths—like a selection of two red and white wines. But don’t worry if you’re not much a drinker, you’ll still have a range of non-alcoholic refreshments to sip on instead.
On the other hand, if your tasting worked up an appetite to explore more fruits of the land you can head to the beautiful Malibu Wines & Beer Garden in West Hills. While you won’t be able to soak up the experience at the shaded al fresco seating area just yet, you can head beyond the stone archways and grab a bottle or two to-go. All the red and white wines from your tour will be on offer along with a range of local wines and beer to enjoy.
This is new L.A. experience rides into town on September 3 but tickets are already on sale now if you like to plan ahead. Tours will set you back $70 and will run from Thursday to Monday, for groups of up to 8 people (+ a tour guide).
You’ll also need to be over 21 to participate and while all equipment will be provided, closed shoes and comfortable clothing is recommended.
