We’re lucky to live in a food haven known as L.A. — a mecca of culture and all the delicious food that comes with it. Whatever you’re craving, you can find it served up authentically in this city. That’s exactly how Boo’s was born — with the goal of folks finding a “Piece of Philly in Los Angeles.”
Boo’s is a family-owned business offering hoagies and cheesesteaks that even Philadelphian’s would approve of. Honorable mentions include the classic Boo’s Cheesesteak, Boo’s Cheesesteak Hoagie, Italian Hoagie — and of course, their ooey-gooey Cheesesteak Fries.
Their food is undoubtedly a flavorsome experience, but even the birth of Boo’s is magical. The idea of the restaurant came to Andrew Ahn’s father when he asked his son where he could find a decent cheesesteak in town. Andrew revealed he couldn’t find one in Los Angeles — and that was the exact moment the lightbulb lit.
“My parents immigrated to the New Jersey area in 1979 from Seoul, South Korea. It was a tumultuous time in Korea and America was a beacon of light and a land of infinite opportunity. And for my parents, that’s all they could ask for in life, an opportunity,” shared Andrew on Boo’s site. “After having told my parents about the lack of good cheesesteaks (and hoagies) in LA, the sweet sap of entrepreneurship began to overflow in all of us.”
The rest is history, and now Boo’s is a beloved favorite. Now locals can flaunt that the mouthwatering idea was born and raised here in Los Angeles.
