Summer is almost here, which means it’s officially time to trade indoor plans for beach days, hiking trails, sunset walks, and every excuse possible to spend more time outside. Luckily, California State Parks Week is returning from June 10–14 with more than 170 free events happening across the state — including a full lineup of outdoor adventures right here in Los Angeles County.
From coastal yoga and guided mindfulness hikes to volunteer cleanups and campfire programs under the stars, these free events offer plenty of ways to reconnect with nature without leaving LA County.
These are the events taking place inside LA County parks during June 10–14:
Wednesday, June 10
- Explore The Shore
At Point Dume State Beach
🕙 10 AM–2 PM- The L.A.-area kickoff event focused on coastal ecosystems, marine life, geology, and hands-on beach exploration activities. This is one of the week’s official spotlight events.
Thursday, June 11
- Coastal Cleanup
At Point Dume State Beach- A volunteer-focused beach cleanup event along one of Malibu’s most scenic stretches of coastline.
Friday, June 12
- PORTScast: Yoga On The Coast
At Point Dume State Beach- Outdoor yoga overlooking the Pacific with guided wellness programming.
- Resilient Redwoods Rendezvous (Virtual PORTScast Access Available)
- While the main event occurs elsewhere in California, portions are accessible virtually through PORTS programming during Parks Week.
Saturday, June 13
- Intro To Trail Maintenance
At Topanga State Park
🕣 8:30 AM- Hands-on volunteer experience teaching visitors how trail systems are maintained.
- Morning Mindfulness Hike
At Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park
🕘 9 AM- Guided mindfulness programming through historic landscapes and mountain views. The park itself lists this hike as an upcoming June 13 program.
- The People’s Festival
At Los Angeles State Historic Park
🕛 Noon- Community programming, performances, cultural activities, and family-friendly experiences in Downtown LA.
- Evening Mindfulness Hike
At Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park
🕔 5 PM- Golden-hour version of the earlier mindfulness experience.
- Campfire Program
At Malibu Creek State Park
🕖 7 PM- Evening campfire programming featuring wildlife education and outdoor interpretation activities.
