If you have an email address and an internet connection, you now have access to California’s Bookshelf, a collection of more than 300,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks. In an official press release California State Librarian Greg Lucas stated “With just a few clicks, any Californian can go and grab what they’re looking for on California’s Bookshelf. Trust me, we’ve tried to make something for every reader.”
This digital treasure trove includes thousands of books in multiple genres and over 20 languages. Whether you’re into thrillers, romance, history, or sci-fi, there’s something for you.
How to Access California’s Bookshelf
Getting started is simple. Just follow these five steps:
- Download the free Palace app on your iOS or Android device.
- Use the “find my library” search function and select California’s Bookshelf.
- Browse the collection and select a title to either “get” or “reserve.”
- Choose the option to create a virtual library card and fill out the short form. (You’ll need to enable location services once to verify your residency.)
- Check your email for confirmation, and you’re all set to start reading.
