Moroccan elegance in central L.A.
Cara is the new restaurant hotel that quietly opened in Los Feliz around mid-September while everyone was focused on pumpkin patches and spooky drive-ins. Sitting in the coffee bar with a sparkling aqua pool, lined with towering palms and white lined curtains flowing from windows will immediately transport you to a Morrocan oasis. Its timeless elegance of sandstone surfaces accented with delicate pink roses, 100-year-old olive trees and flickering candles, oozes romance.
In the courtyard, white linen drapes, blow gently in the breezy al fresco space with twinkling fairy lights wrapped around trees evoking balmy nights in the Mediterranean. Marble table tops with lush white-cushioned chairs and loungers dotted around the space create a casual ambiance that will immediately put you in holiday mode. You can even stay in the Cara Hotel, which it’s part of, for the staycation every Angeleno deserves right now.
On the menu, you’ll find a perfect intersection of European dishes with a farm-fresh California fare. There’s something for brunch on warmer days like the Watermelon & Tomato Gaspacho or Avocado, Beetroot & Grapefruit Salad with roasted hazelnuts and balsamic vinegar. Pan-fried fish or charcoal-roasted chicken are perfect for date night dinners. Poolside cocktails, there are smaller plates like buffalo mozzarella with heirloom tomato and grilled sourdough.
There’s a stunning selection of high-quality spirits and biodynamic wines from Aix-en-Provence for mellow after-work drinks. While the new eatery on Western Avenue is only open to diners from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., but there are plans to keep it open until the early hours of the morning.
