Winter rains combine with the warm spring temperatures, resulting in the bloom of thousands of flowers. This annual super bloom can be enjoyed in various spots around the city, but the 55 cultivated acres of Carlsbad Ranch are undoubtedly the ideal destination.
On March 1, the ranch will open its doors to locals and tourists, inviting them to experience the yearly spring explosion of ranunculus flowers, which typically bloom for six to eight weeks. Located right off the I-5, Carlsbad Ranch has been a true SoCal icon since the 1960s, with lush, colorful fields that have become a must-visit destination.
This year, visitors can enjoy a brand-new Butterfly Encounter area, as well as scenic tractor wagon rides around the ranunculus fields on a 15-minute loop with hop-on, hop-off access. The ranch also features a charming sweet pea maze and a playful area filled with whimsical playhouses and giant mushrooms, which were once part of Santa’s Village at Lake Arrowhead.
Access to the fields requires timed-entry tickets, priced at $22 for adults, $20 for military members and seniors over 60, and $12 for children ages 3 to 10. Tickets must be purchased online in advance, as they are not available on-site, and reentry is not permitted.
