The ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe has left Angelenos wondering how they can help, especially from afar. Many have been vocal about the conflict by peacefully taking to the streets to show their solidarity with the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian community here in Los Angeles.
This viral L.A. coffee shop has stepped up in a creative way to make help and support even more possible, through a beautiful padlock-fence art installation that gets the community involved.
Carrera Cafe is known for their famous latte art. From the meme-worthy Kim Kardashian crying face to showing off some L.A. pride—their coffee art has become a hit online and all around Los Angeles. For years, their coffee has brought locals laughter and joy. Now, they’re spreading a new kind of love.
They shared with us that the aim for their ‘Fence Of Love’ installation is to inspire hope. “Everyone can make a difference no matter how small.” shares Carrera Cafe, “Humanity is all connected like the links on a chain and the locks represent the positive energy to make a change for the better.”
All you have to do is purchase a lock, write any meaningful message on it, and place it on the fence. They hope their efforts can spark compassion and spread the importance of community. 100% of the padlock sales go to UNICEF for Ukrainian relief.
“[We care about] what is happening not just in America, but the world.” says Carrera Cafe, “We are all connected and we must send a clear message that those impacted are not alone.”
