A taste of Lousiana in L.A.
There’s no such thing as a one-trick-pony in L.A. Here, actors are models, models are entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs are also pop stars. And in the case of actress, singer and songwriter Christina Milian, she is also the proud owner the most adorable Beignet Cafe in Studio City.
The pale green-and-white striped canopy shading the expansive glass facade exudes an innocent, old-world charm with the sweet smells of freshly made pâte à choux wafting through the air. While you might already be well-acquainted with the roaming Beignet Cafe food truck, this will be the first of two brick-and-mortar locations with a second one opening at the Americana at Brand in Glendale this summer.
This deep-fried, sugar-dusted delicacy is a New Orleans staple, known as locally as a sugar-powdered breakfast. With co-owner Elizabeth Morris originally from the “Big Easy,” this joint venture is Morris’ way of bringing a little slice of Lousiana to L.A. So, naturally, the grand opening came with a huge New Orleans-style procession—which included a float and brass band!
The menu stays true to the simplicity of the pastry with a few indulgent toppings to add, with a selection of sweet teas and coffees to complement the light, fluffy, not-too-doughy goodness of each beignet bite.
If you’re not already drooling, you can head over to their Instagram page for some serious eye-candy. Or just head to the store and bathe in bright light with these delicious treats.
