What to bring to a community cleanup
It’s always good to be prepared! Make sure your cleanup kit is stocked and ready to go with these tips. Consider bringing the following:
- gloves (disposable or reusable gardening gloves)
- bucket or trash bags
- filled reusable water bottle
- wear closed-toe shoes or sneakers for safety
- wear weather-appropriate clothing
- Don’t forget your sun protection! (Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses)

This community beach, river, and park cleanup kickstarts the Plastic-Free July Cleanup Challenge with LA Waterkeeper by suggesting a decentralized cleanup around L.A. after all the hullabaloo of the 4th of July. They encourage people to get outside and clean up all the trash left behind by these Independence Day parties. Participants are encouraged to register here.
