The Criterion Mobile Closet is heading to Los Angeles once again! This time, it’s teaming up with the American Cinematheque at the Aero Theatre to celebrate cinema during their Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair festival, for two days only, with free admission in June.
Packed with more than 1,000 films from all over the world, visitors can explore the collection and even make their own Closet video! The Closet is filled with every in-print edition from the Criterion Collection, including box sets, as well as releases from their Eclipse and Janus Contemporaries lines.
The Mobile Closet will be open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis: no reservations needed. While supplies last, everyone who visits will receive a Criterion tote bag and a printed pocket guide to the Criterion Collection. Each visit lasts three minutes, starting when you enter the Closet.
Admission is free and there’s no purchase required, but visitors can buy up to three items at a special 40% discount in honor of Criterion’s 40th anniversary. A limited selection of Criterion merchandise may also be available for purchase. Credit cards only. To top it off, after your visit, you’ll receive a Polaroid photo with your selections!
