Fun summer nights in Los Angeles are about to get even better. Beach Movie Nights are returning to Dockweiler Beach this June. And they’re bringing free family-friendly films back to the shoreline for another season of movies, ocean breezes, and unforgettable sunset views.
Hosted by the Department of Beaches and Harbors, this annual summer tradition transforms the sand beside the Dockweiler Youth Center into an open-air movie theater where families, friends, and movie lovers can settle in under the stars.
From animated favorites and nostalgic classics to brand-new releases, this year’s lineup offers something for everyone.
What to expect at Beach Movie Nights
Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets, low-back beach chairs, and extra layers since temperatures can cool quickly once the sun goes down. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reserved sections.
Enjoy festival-style seating directly on the sand while taking in ocean views and sunset skies before each screening begins. Since movies start after dark, arriving early is recommended to claim a good spot.
How to get tickets
Admission is completely free, and no tickets are required.
However, attendees are encouraged to RSVP online for each movie night individually to receive updates about weather, scheduling changes, or last-minute event announcements. Each screening has its own separate RSVP page. You can RSVP here.

Beach Movie Nights take place at the Dockweiler Youth Center, located in Playa del Rey.
Parking is available at Dockweiler Beach for just $3 after 6 p.m., making this one of the most affordable ways to enjoy a classic Southern California summer evening.
