On Tuesday, June 11, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued a curfew for the Downtown Los Angeles area.
“The curfew will be in place from 8 pm tonight until 6 am tomorrow,” said Mayor Bass. “If you do not live or work in downtown LA, stay away.”
On Wednesday morning, June 11, LAPD Central Division announced on X/Twitter that the curfew would be in effect again tonight, and reminded residents to review the updated map of restricted areas.
When is the curfew issued for Downtown Los Angeles?
The curfew begins at 8 p.m. on June 11, 2025, and is set to conclude on June 12, 2025, at 6 a.m.
What areas of Downtown L.A. are impacted by this curfew?
The impacted area is one square mile, from the 5 freeway to the 110 freeway, and from the 10 to the merging point of the 11o and 5.
The curfew applies to a one-square-mile section of Downtown Los Angeles, bordered by major freeways and streets. Neighborhoods within or near this curfew zone include:
- Little Tokyo
- Skid Row
- Fashion District
- Arts District
- Chinatown
- Parts of South Park and Historic Core
Notable streets shown on the city-issued map include S. Broadway, S. Olive St., S. Grand Ave., and Alameda St., as well as major cross streets like 7th St., 9th St., and 3rd St.
Residents, employees, and credentialed media are exempt from the curfew, but all others are advised to avoid the area during restricted hours.
“If you do not live or work in downtown LA, stay away,” Bass said during a press conference Tuesday evening.

The curfew is currently in effect again tonight (June 11) from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. City officials say it may extend depending on public safety needs.

The curfew follows several days of largely peaceful demonstrations in response to immigration enforcement across Los Angeles. On Monday night, a protest in DTLA escalated, leading to confrontations between some demonstrators and law enforcement. Authorities reported more than 100 arrests and damage to 23 businesses.
