East Los Angeles is gearing up for a milestone celebration as the 80th Annual Mexican Independence Day Parade & Festival returns in 2026. It’s bigger, brighter, and rooted in decades of community tradition.
Taking place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, this beloved event remains the largest and longest-running Mexican Independence Day parade in the United States. Thousands are expected to line up to celebrate culture, heritage, and unity through music, food, and festivities for all ages.
Organized by the Mexican Civic Patriotic Committee with support from the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles and Los Angeles County, this iconic event continues to stand as a vibrant symbol of heritage, pride, and community spirit. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration!
Who is this year’s Grand Marshal?
This year’s celebration will feature Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis as Co-Grand Marshal, highlighting her longstanding commitment to the community. The event also coincides with a major milestone for its organizer, the Mexican Civic Patriotic Committee, which is celebrating 95 years of service as a cornerstone of the Mexican-American community in Los Angeles.
Since its founding in 1931, the Committee has played a vital role in preserving and promoting cultural pride – organizing the parade for 80 of those years and drawing thousands of attendees annually.
