Attention, Los Angeles! The countdown to the Presidential Elections is almost over as November 5th is here. To ensure you’re fully prepared for this crucial day, we’ve put together a guide to help streamline your voting experience. ❓ Am I eligible to vote?
To vote in Los Angeles, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be a Los Angeles resident
- Be at least 18 years old before or on Election Day
🗳️ How can I register to vote?
The deadline to register to vote is on October 21, 2024. If you miss the deadline, not to worry — you can still vote! Eligible voters can take advantage of Conditional Voter Registration, which allows you to register in person and vote using a provisional ballot right up until Election Day.

➡️ Voter Registration:
- Deadline For Online -OR- Mail Registration: The last day to register to vote is October 21, 2024.
- Online Registration: California offers the convenience of online voter registration. You can register online here.
- Register In Person: You can register to vote in person. Reach out to your local election office for details on when and where you can register. You can also register at the DMV.
- Mail Registration: You can also register by printing a voter registration form, filling it out, and mailing it to your local election office.
California voters can sign up at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov to receive email, text, or call notifications about their ballot—when it is mailed, received, and counted.
➡️ Conditional Voter Registration:
- Again, eligible voters can take advantage of Conditional Voter Registration, which allows you to register in person and vote using a provisional ballot. You can register and vote conditionally at your county elections office after the 15-day registration deadline.
📍 When and where can I vote?
Polling places will be open for voting and ballot drop-off from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
If voting in person, find your assigned polling place and a map with wait times here. Polling places are set up all across L.A. County for the ease of all Angelenos, with some standout spots like SoFi Stadium, Hotel Figueroa, and other iconic locations that make exercising your civic duty a memorable experience.
For ease, Metro Los Angeles will be offering free rides on Election Day to help Angelenos get to the polls!
📬 Vote-by-Mail Information:
Your county elections office will begin mailing ballots by October 7, 2024. If voting by mail, you can return your completed ballot to any of the city’s polling places during working hours, as well as the official ballot drop boxes which are open 24/7 until the close of polls at 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
- Ballot Request Recommended Date: October 29, 2024
- Submitting Completed Ballots:
- Personally Delivered: If returned in person, ballots must be returned before 8 p.m. on Election Day.
- Mailed Ballots: Must be postmarked by November 5, 2024, and received by your county elections office by November 12, 2024.
🪪 Anything else I should know?
- You don’t need to show ID when voting in person if you have voted in California before. If you registered to vote by mail and didn’t include an ID number on the form, you may be asked to provide some form of identification. Learn more about what to bring here.
