Start your engines, Los Angeles. Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up to debut its most ambitious thrill ride yet, and it’s bringing the speed, style, and adrenaline-fueled action of the Fast & Furious franchise along for the ride.
Set to open in summer 2026, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will become the park’s first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster. The new ride promises a groundbreaking experience that blurs the line between a roller coaster and a street race.
Universal’s first-ever high-speed outdoor coaster
The attraction will launch riders at speeds of up to 72 mph while introducing an innovative 360-degree rotating ride vehicle system designed to simulate the sensation of drifting through tight turns and high-speed maneuvers. As the coaster twists through the Universal Studios Hollywood skyline, riders will feel as though they’re inside one of the franchise’s iconic street races.
The coaster’s innovative ride system is expected to be one of the most technologically advanced attractions Universal has ever built. By allowing individual vehicles to rotate independently throughout the ride, guests will experience the feeling of drifting around corners and accelerating through high-speed chase sequences unlike anything currently offered at the park.
Four iconic Fast & Furious cars will lead the ride
Universal recently unveiled three additional ride vehicles that will join the attraction’s lineup, giving fans a closer look at the cars that helped define the blockbuster series.
Alongside Dominic Toretto’s legendary 1970 Dodge Charger, guests can board vehicles inspired by Han Seoul-oh’s Mazda RX-7, Brian O’Conner’s Nissan Skyline GT-R, and the unforgettable Toyota Supra that became one of the most recognizable cars in the franchise.
The Dodge Charger pays tribute to Dom’s signature muscle car, complete with its aggressive styling and reputation as one of the most iconic vehicles in movie history. Han’s Mazda RX-7 brings a touch of Tokyo Drift flair, while Brian’s blue Skyline GT-R and orange Supra honor two of the most beloved vehicles from the Fast & Furious universe.
New footage offers a glimpse of the action
As construction continues, Universal Studios Hollywood has also released a new television spot teasing the attraction and giving fans another glimpse of the high-octane experience awaiting them next summer.
The preview showcases the ride’s sleek vehicle designs and hints at the speed and immersive effects guests can expect when the attraction finally opens.
When will Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift open?
