Adrenaline, vertigo, blood, sweat, and tears… all of that and more is at stake for the national teams that have secured their spot in the World Cup. Perhaps the most watched sporting competition on the plane, the World Cup is where honor and the hunger for glory drive players to fight for a coveted place among the best of the best.
But the World Cup is not only about the game itself, it’s also about color, passion, and the roar of the fans. Painted faces, wigs, chants echoing from the stands, and, of course, the always-beloved official mascots. For the 2026 edition, FIFA has unveiled three adorable new characters in a recent press release, that are ready to steal the spotlight…
Who are the mascots?
Maple the Moose (Canada), Zayu the Jaguar (Mexico), and Clutch the Bald Eagle (United States) were carefully designed to capture the vibrant culture, heritage, and spirit of their countries, coming together as symbols of unity, diversity, and a shared love for soccer.
Clutch the Bald Eagle loves adventure, soaring across the U.S. with curiosity and optimism. Bold on the field and inspiring off it, Clutch rallies teammates and fans alike, proving that true flight comes from purpose, passion, and play.
Zayu the Jaguar, from southern Mexico, embodies the country’s vibrant spirit. A clever and agile striker on the field, Zayu brings Mexican culture to life off it, uniting people with dance, food, and tradition while carrying the heart of Mexico with pride.
Maple the Moose was made to explore, traveling across Canada while connecting with people and celebrating the nation’s culture. A lover of street style, music, and a skilled goalkeeper, Maple thrives on creativity, resilience, and bold individuality, bringing stories and flair wherever they go.
To engage young fans, Maple, Zayu, and Clutch will be the first FIFA competition mascots playable in the all-new FIFA-licensed game, FIFA Heroes, set to launch next year.
