Over the years, Foos Gone Wild has grown from curating relatable memes to throwing unforgettable events, landing collaborations with Zumiez, and organizing impactful community toy drives. Now, they’ve hit another milestone — their very own exhibition at the respected Superchief Gallery to celebrate their 6th anniversary.
The exhibition, titled Law Abiding Citizens, is curated by none other than Estevan Oriol, a legend in the Los Angeles scene. A photographer known for capturing the often-overlooked parts of the city, Oriol shares a vision with Foos Gone Wild, whose humor often resonates with a niche audience — down-ass foos.
This sentiment is even reflected in the artwork throughout the space. Some pieces require you to “look at it closely” to catch the references. If you know, you know.
Of course, Law Abiding Citizens goes beyond being an art show. It’s a tribute to a culture that embodies the spirit of Los Angeles and the upbringing of countless individuals in Southern California. What started as a meme page has grown into something special — a community that resonates not only with locals but with foos worldwide.
“Last year we did the 5th Year Anniversary show for Foos Gone Wild at the YouTube Theater, and that was incredible, so for the 6th Year Anniversary, we had to do something special,” shared Estevan Oriol. “We put this exhibition together. Law Abiding Citizens is the first Foos Gone Wild art show, and it includes artists of all ages and experience levels. I wanted to give all the artists that we chose the opportunity to shine together, and that’s exactly what we did with the best gallery we could have done it at, Superchief.”
Since 2012, Superchief Gallery has been a dedicated space for supporting underground artists. This show is a collaborative effort between entities who prioritize that community. With Oriol’s vision, Superchief’s mission, and Foos Gone Wild’s impact, combined with the creativity of 30 local artists — the exhibit brings a unique blend of that connection to life.
The space is a true encapsulation of authenticity, humor, and shared bonds. True to its soul down to the socks, Law Abiding Citizens is by the culture, for the culture.
