Things to do in Green Valley Lake
You’ll find Green Valley Lake in a secluded area of the mountains, about 4 miles off Highway 18. The small lake covers about 9 acres and is almost 100 years old, as it formed with the creation of the Green Valley Dam in 1926. It features a small, family-friendly beach where you can swim or rent paddle boats and kayaks. Remember that Green Valley Lake is located at over 7,000 feet of elevation, which is higher than both Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. As a result, this area often has lower temperatures than its surroundings, so it’s worth bringing layers for cooler evenings. Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat for the stronger sun exposure, and if you’re prone to altitude sickness, don’t overdo it on your hike!
