For an entire generation, Harry Potter was a cultural touchstone that shaped childhoods and turned readers into lifelong fans of the Wizarding World.
Now, Californians will have the chance to revisit that sense of wonder in a fully immersive experience unlike anything before. Harry Potter: A Hogwarts Express Adventure will open at the Southern California Railway Museum this summer, running from July 24 through September 27.
The adventure begins with a Platform 9¾-inspired preboarding area before passengers board the train for a ride filled with house-themed activities, chants, and spell-casting challenges. Guests will also be able to enjoy themed snacks and drinks from a trolley during the journey.
The experience concludes in a destination inspired by Hogsmeade, where visitors can explore additional food options, beverages, and themed merchandise. Organizers have also hinted at surprise encounters and unexpected moments during the ride, adding an element of mystery to the experience.
Ticket sales will begin April 28, with prices starting at $77 for adults and $67 for children ages 2 to 11, depending on departure time.
2026: a big year for Potterheads
This new train experience arrives as 2026 is set to be a landmark year for Harry Potter fans, with an upcoming television series bringing the Wizarding World back to screens on HBO Max.
With both screen and real-world experiences converging, fans will have multiple ways to engage with the franchise throughout the year.
