You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen, Comet, and Cupid, and Donder…but do you recall the merriest reindeer of all?
Blitzen’s, the beloved holiday pop-up bar, has a very shiny, tinsel-wrapped tables and even without the boozy beverages, it absolutely glows. This year it will be riding back into town and taking over Art District haunt Here and Now as the full, original experience. From November 22 to January 1, guests will be treated to festive fare with a retro twist and a side of jolly entertainment—the falling snow outside of the restaurant’s front door is just the cherry on top of the eggnog sundae.
You can sip on decadent drinks like Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal or tuck into bites like Santa’s Cookies or a Leftover Sandwich. They’ll also be serving up all that along with the usual menu of carolers, drag queen bingo, re-gift your sh*t games, and a holiday puppy pageant.
Other fferings include hilarious yet tastefully named drinks such as the Butternut Cry, Butternut Pout made up of St. Remy Signature Brandy, butternut Squash and thym—or the Gettin’ Blitzened featuring tequila, fino, sweet vermouth, lemon, falernum, and prosecco. More belly-fillers to look out for are the fancy Pigs In A Blanket made with wagyu cocktail franks and puff pastry with some ketchup and honey Dijon.
On Sundays, guests are usually encouraged to wear their favorite PJs, hop in an actual sleigh for photos, then catch holiday movie screenings of holiday classics on the outdoor patio. You can get cozy firepit and settle in for a flick while you sip on a warm Little Saint Nick Cocktail with Herradura tequila, 400 Conejos Mezcal, Mr. Black coffee liqueur stirred up with spices, chocolate and milk. Always be sure to keep an eye out, because you might just catch Santa downing a peppermint gin & tonic…
In the spirit of giving, Here and Now has partnered with PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) for their annual donation drive and this year they’ll be collecting toiletries to assist those in need. Donations should be brought in a quart-szie Ziploc bag and each donation will get you one cup of punch.
