Hollywood Bowl 2022 will feature Billie Eilish, Debbie Harry, Yuval Sharon, John Williams, Ricky Martin, Duran Duran, Diana Ross, Grace Jones, and more!
After deferring its centennial celebrations (due to obvious reasons), it seems as though the Hollywood Bowl has only been building up entertainment firepower for one explosive summer. L.A.’s iconic music venue has announced the lineup for 2022, featuring sensational artists that bring the Bowl’s history to life, tracing its defining roots and connecting it to the present day. Audiences will be treated to a cosmic cultural banquet that pays homage to the musicians, composers, performers and artists across fields that have shaped the legendary venue.
The season will kick off on June 11 with the free two-day “101 festival” at the Hollywood Bowl and The Ford on the other side of the 101 freeway. However, the details and lineup will only be announced in May. Then heating things up through June, the Bowl will be brimming with top acts from The Roots and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Fantastic Negrito, to Femi Kuti & The Positive Force. The first month will close off with the fan-favorite Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 in Concert performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
On the fourth of July, the sky will be illuminated with fireworks as Steve Martin and Martin Short keep you entertained along with bands like film score keyboardist and pianist Jeff Babko. Following a full 3-day schedule of the wildly theatrical Kinky boots by Jerry Mitchell, Gustav Dudamel will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra on a musical voyage of Leonard Bernstein’s famous work. Dudamel will reappear on the lineup with Paris Opera Ballet and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet before stepping onto the stage with Latin icon Ricky Martin.
Paying tribute to Lifetime Achievement award-winner Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra, is a roster of the most talented musicians and artists. Billie Eilish, Debbie Harry, Dianne Reeves, and Brian Stokes Mitchell are just some of the special guests gracing the stage.
That’s not all though. This September, Duran Duran will be brining the 80s back along with an incredible firework show. Other acts include Itzhak Perlman Leads Tchaikovsky, Pink Martini, Angélique Kidjo, Lang Lang playing Disney, a Sing-A-Long to the Sound of Music, UB40, and so much more.
While this is only a snippet of what’s to come for Hollywood Bowl 2022, it’s fair to say that the days of reveling in the balmy LA heat under the stars are finally back.
