If you needed a sign to clean out your closet and make new besties over cafecito, this is it! This Saturday, December 6th from 10 AM–2 PM, the beloved community-powered Home Gurl Swap is taking over Brown Owl Café for what might be their most stacked swap yet. December 6th is the first-ever National Clothing Swap Day. And even cooler, the whole things is completely free!
This event is part clothing exchange, part art crawl, and part block-party energy. It’s one of those only-in-L.A. gems where people show up with bags of treasures and leave looking like they won a free styling session.
🛍️ Home Gurl Swap Guidelines
- Clothes swap: Bring up to one bag (max) of clean clothing, accessories, and unused/good-condition shoes, hats, and beanies. And no used undergarments!
- Crystal swap: Brings cleanse crystals, spiritual cleansing items, incense, candles, jewelry, and art.
- Book/art swap: Books, zines, magazines, children’s books, craft supplies, fabric, stamps, canvases, black books or sketchbooks, acrylic or oil paint, glitter/paint, brushes, art tools, and DIY supplies for upcycling.
- Plant swap: Plant trimmings (propagation), rooted plants, pots, planters, seeds, 420 flowers, gardening tools/manuals, fruits/veggies, and compost soil.
- Music/video swap: CDs, tapes, 7‑inch and 12‑inch records, posters, DVDs, and VHS tapes.
Basically bring what you can, take what you need. Clothing, crystals, books, plants, music — if it sparks joy or helps a home gurl, it’s welcome. And don’t stress – whatever isn’t rehomed will be donated to local nonprofits or given directly to unhoused neighbors in the community.

And because Home Gurl Swap goes above and beyond, this swap includes a solo art opening by KGM “Eight” from Double Outlines, the creative powerhouse behind all Home Gurl Swap logos and merch. Expect color-drenched designs and Eastside flavor.
Plus, there’s an all-vinyl DJ lineup spinning nothing but mood-setting magic all day!
