Nothing is more synonymous with 60s California than the sound of The Beach Boys. The mere crackle of the needle on the ‘Pet Sounds’ record is enough to transport you back to a time of golden sun, salt air and artistic revolution. This year, the seminal album, of which Sir Paul McCartney said “I figure no one is educated musically ’til they’ve heard that album”. I love the album so much”, turns 60, and you’re invited to celebrate exactly where the magic happened.
Next month, Inside Track is hosting an ultra-exclusive Pet Sounds 60th-Anniversary experience at EastWest Studios in Hollywood – the hallowed ground where Brian Wilson and the band laid down the lush and dreamy melodies that changed music forever.

An intimate look at a musical legend
With the Session (taking place September 19th) limited to just 100 fans, this is a rare behind-the-scenes look at music legend. You’ll get to walk the same halls as greats from Frank Sinatra and Elvis to Madonna and Billie Eilish, before heading into Studio One, the facility’s most renowned room. Here you’ll experience a stunning audio playback of the album’s most beloved tracks right where they were created.
The Beach Boys’ very own Bruce Johnston, longstanding band member and the Beach Boy who was personally chosen to take an early pressing of ‘Pet Sounds’ to London in 1966, will be the special guest. He’ll be interviewed by host David Wild: Emmy-winner, Rolling Stone journalist, and co-host of the “Naked Lunch” podcast. Bruce will share personal stories including the legendary moment he played ‘Pet Sounds’ for The Beatles for the first time, and answer your questions about his decades touring with ‘America’s Band.’
Johnston, who’s also the composer of hits like ‘I Write The Songs’ as well as The Beach Boys’ ‘Disney Girls’, will then play an intimate and exclusive performance of ‘God Only Knows’ on a grand piano in Studio One.
