The voice behind iconic hits like California Gurls and Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) has been making headlines for days after announcing her decision to join a mission that’s quite literally headed “to infinity and beyond.” And the wait is finally over: today’s the day Katy Perry and her fellow crewmates blast off into the unknown.
Aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket, the all-women crew marks a historic moment, the first mission of its kind since 1963. Joining Perry on this journey are astrophysicist Aisha Bou, activist and researcher Amanda Wen, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, and journalists Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez.
When is Katy Perry going to space?
Katy Perry is set to embark on her space journey today, Monday, April 14, 2025, at 6:30 a.m. PDT. The launch will take place from Blue Origin’s Launch Site One, located in West Texas.
How to live stream Katy Perry space launch?
The star-studded journey to the edge of space will last around 10 minutes, and you can catch every second of it live on multiple platforms. Tune in via YouTube on USA Today’s channel, or head over to X to watch the official Blue Origin account.
Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket will carry Katy Perry and five other women past the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space, 100 km above Earth. During the roughly 11-minute suborbital trip, the crew will experience a few minutes of weightlessness before returning safely to Earth with the help of parachutes.
