Looking for the ultimate Saturday plan that the whole family will actually enjoy? Pack up the kids and the picnic blankets — Clockshop’s Kite Festival is coming to the Los Angeles State Historic Park on May 9, 2026, and it’s the perfect outdoor escape for your crew.
From toddlers to teens (and the young at heart), there is something for everyone to dive into from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The ultimate family saturday
- Create Together
Don’t worry about stopping at the store for supplies! Head straight to the “Free Art & Kite-Making Workshops”. They provide everything your kids need to build and decorate their very own kite. It’s a great way to let their creativity run wild before they see their hard work take flight.
- Kite Competition
If your kids are the “DIY” type, encourage them to enter their handmade creations in The Handcrafted Kite Competition, with awards for the top three designs based on creativity, structure, and craftsmanship. The winners of the youth category will score a free week at Rediscover Center’s Summer Tinkering Camp in Glendale!
Need to burn off some extra energy? Join King Dance for a family-friendly cumbia lesson. It’s easy to learn, super fun, and leads right into a live set by Azucar LA.
Plan Your Visit
- Where: Los Angeles State Historic Park (plenty of room for the kids to run!).
- Cost: Free admission! Clockshop suggests a small donation of $5–10 per person to help us keep these workshops free for everyone.
- RSVP Early: Secure your family’s spot here so you don’t miss any updates.
- Pack Smart: Bring hats, sunscreen, and plenty of snacks. The park has beautiful views, making it the perfect spot for an early evening picnic while the kites are in the air.
Take a breath, fly a kite, and make some memories with us this May!
