When traffic disappears and cars are removed from the “urban equation,” Los Angeles looks like a completely different city, shifting its usual landscape into something else entirely: quieter, more communal, and unexpectedly full of life.
That shift is coming back next month with CicLAvia’s 66th Open Streets event, linking Leimert Park and Exposition Park. About 3.6 miles of streets along the route will be opened as a temporary car-free space, welcoming people of all ages and abilities.
The event will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 9 AM to 4 PM, turning the corridor between both neighborhoods into a shared environment for walking, cycling, and experiencing the city at a slower pace.
What to know about CicLAvia

Since 2010, CicLAvia has been transforming Los Angeles streets into car-free corridors, beginning with its first open-streets event inspired by Bogotá’s ciclovía model, with the aim of reclaiming streets as public spaces for people rather than vehicles.
Over the years, the program has expanded across L.A. County, staging dozens of events that attract tens of thousands of participants each time. Its focus includes encouraging active transportation, strengthening community ties, and promoting environmental awareness.
