Summer is winding down, and August is already slipping away. Before the season disappears completely, there’s still time to make the most of those long, warm evenings, especially when the plan involves the beach, a sunset and a dance floor.
At Vista Restaurant in Hermosa Beach, Sunset Vibes Silent Disco brings a four-hour dance party for all ages to the restaurant’s outdoor space at The Strand and Pier Plaza. The monthly event combines a rotating lineup of DJs, multiple music channels and a colorful light show, with plenty of room to move between the restaurant, plaza and beach.
What to expect at Sunset Vibes Silent Disco
The event works a little differently from your typical DJ night, while bringing the same energy and vibes. Instead of blasting music through speakers, guests receive high-fidelity wireless headphones and can switch between multiple music channels. Each channel lights up in a different color, making it easy to spot other people dancing to the same soundtrack.
For August, the setup includes five simultaneous music stages and a rotating lineup of six or more DJs, with two request channels so guests can have a say in what plays. The music changes from month to month and can include EDM, house, nu-disco, hip-hop, Latin, pop, remixes spanning the 1970s to today, and even karaoke.
The headphones have a range of about a quarter mile, meaning you aren’t confined to one dance floor. You can wander around Pier Plaza or even head toward the beach while staying connected to the music. The production also includes laser lights, haze machines, and disco balls, giving the whole thing more of a mini-festival atmosphere than a traditional restaurant party.
Tickets include entry and headphones, with current pricing starting at $15 for Super Early Bird tickets, $25 for Early Bird tickets, $ 35 for General Admission, and $ 15 for Kids’ tickets.
