Thursday nights in Los Angeles just got a massive upgrade. 💃
Tucked inside our sprawling 4,310-acre Griffith Park, one of the city’s most iconic cultural institutions is trading in quiet gallery hours for trumpet blasts, rhythmic congas, and high-energy Latin fusion.
The Autry Museum of the American West is once again hosting its legendary summer music series, and it is easily one of the most electric ways to spend a warm evening in LA.

The event series kicks off later this month, and tickets are already flying. So here’s what you need to know about LA’s biggest weekday bash before it’s too late.
Why this historic Western Museum is LA’s favorite summer dance club
Forget your typical weekday routine, it’s officially summer time!
For weeks throughout the summer, the museum plaza transforms into an open-air dance floor under the California stars.
You can grab tickets to Sizzling Summer Nights: Salsa Under the Stars right now to lock in your spot at what has become a bona fide Los Angeles tradition.
The magic here lies in the atmosphere.
Instead of a stuffy indoor club, you are surrounded by the scenic backdrop of Griffith Park while some of LA’s most celebrated live salsa and Latin fusion bands take the stage.
With a rotating weekly lineup featuring powerhouse acts like Chino Espinoza & Los Dueños del Son, Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca, and Rush Hour Orquesta, the energy is infectious from the very first beat.

What to expect on the plaza (no experience required)
You don’t need to be a professional dancer to get in on the fun either!
One of the best parts about this event is how welcoming it is for beginners.
Every night features a free salsa dance lesson with top instructor April Connella during intermission, giving you all the moves you need to own the dance floor with confidence. There is even a dedicated children’s dance floor, making this a vibrant community celebration where all ages are welcome.
Doors swing open at 6 pm, which gives you plenty of time to grab a drink and a bite before the live music kicks off at 6:30 pm!
You will find a full bar serving up ice-cold margaritas, spirits, and beers, alongside hot-off-the-grill tacos and local food options to keep your energy high all night long as well.

Late-night gallery access and free parking
Here is the secret LA perk that makes this ticket such a steal: your admission includes full access to The Autry Museum of the American West after hours.
When you need a break from dancing, you can step out of the warm summer air and cool off inside the museum. Wandering through world-class art and historic Western exhibitions between salsa sets is an experience you can only get right here in Los Angeles.
To top it all off, parking is completely free for visitors right on site, which is practically unheard of for an evening out in LA.
Tickets start at just $23 for general admission, but they jump by $5 the Monday before each event week, so you will want to secure your spot early!
