Hotel Figueroa has been a downtown Los Angeles landmark for exactly 100 years.
It opened in 1926 as a safe haven for female travelers. At the time, it was the largest commercial project funded entirely by women, for women.
Honoring a trailblazing legacy
The hotel just unveiled a massive mural to mark its centennial. It honors Maude N. Bouldin, the property’s first general manager and the first female hotel manager in the U.S.

Paul Daniels painted the striking piece. He is the same artist who created the iconic Kobe Bryant mural on the opposite side of the building.
The hotel continues to support women shaping LA today. Its annual Artist Alley residency directly spotlights local female creators. This year’s featured artist is Emily Colvin.
Spooky cocktails by the coffin pool

Who knows what kind of history these 100-year-old walls hold. The venue is fully leaning into that mystery this season.
Locals can visit Florence by the Water, the hotel’s Italian-Mediterranean restaurant, in costume on Friday, October 30, or Saturday, October 31, to receive a complimentary glass of champagne.

The restaurant is serving exclusive Halloween cocktails. Guests can order the Boo Berry, Midnight Vault, or Halloween Sunset.
You can sip these seasonal drinks while overlooking the hotel’s famous coffin-shaped pool. It is the absolute perfect spot to get into the Halloween spirit.
