Officially the longest light rail line in the world, the Metro A Line now stretches 48.5 miles thanks to four brand-new stops, and this weekend it makes its grand debut. To celebrate, all rides on the transit system will be free for the weekend, and there will also be a big community event.
As explained by L.A. Metro official website, all rides will be completely free this upcoming weekend, including Metro Bus, Rail, Bike Share, and Metro Micro. Free rides start on Friday, September 19, and run through 3 a.m. on Monday, September 22. It’s the perfect chance to explore the new stations, test the connections between lines, and enjoy the city without worrying about transportation.

But that’s not all. On the same Friday as the grand opening of the new stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne/Fairplex, and Pomona North, each stop will offer something unique, making it more than just a ribbon-cutting. It will be a full-day celebration of community and connection in a one-of-a-kind event called Rock The Rails.
Get ready to dance, eat, and explore. Live music and DJs will set the soundtrack, while local food favorites bring a taste of each neighborhood to the stations. Every corner is designed for fun, discovery, and unforgettable moments. Transit fans and weekend explorers alike can join the party for rides, music, and bites!
