In honor of Earth Day, LA Metro is offering all rides for free today, Monday, April 22nd, with the goal of raising awareness about using public transportation to reduce carbon footprint and contribute to planet conservation.
The bus fare boxes will be turned off, and all train station fare gates will be left open. Metro Bike Share riders can enjoy complimentary 30-minute rides by choosing ‘1-Ride’ at any Metro Bike Share kiosk, online, or in the Metro Bike Share app. Use promo code 042224 and have a credit or debit card handy. The initial 30 minutes of every ride are free. Beyond that, each additional half-hour costs $1.75. Electric Metro Bike unlocking fees are also waived.
Metro Micro users can get complimentary rides on Metro’s on-demand electric ride-share service by using the Metro Micro app or website and entering the code EarthDay24. This promo code will be accessible during Metro’s Call Center’s regular hours (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.), reachable at 323-GoMetro or 323-466-3876.
But that’s not all, in addition to enjoying your daily rides on the LA Metro for free, there will be more celebrations across the city to mark Earth Day:
- 10 a.m: Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson and city officials activate solar canopies at Long Beach Airport’s parking structures.
- 3 p.m: L.A. County Library hosts an Author Talk with Board of Supervisors Chair Lindsey Horvath and Rosanna Xia at West Hollywood Library.
- 7:30 p.m: Santa Monica Pier’s solar-powered Ferris wheel goes green with a 90-foot-tall spinning globe and vibrant colors.
