Deck the Hall Holiday Concerts with LA Phil
The season kicks off on Thanksgiving weekend with two crowd-pleasing film concerts by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Home Alone screens on November 27-28 with John Williams’ score played live, and Elf follows on November 28-29, featuring John Debney’s score.
Holiday Brass comes roaring in on December 1, featuring a musical journey to the tune of dozens of trombones, tubas, and trumpets, plus a complimentary glass of wine.
The next batch of holiday concerts comes mid-December with some orchestral classics, including the nearly 300-year-old Handel’s Messiah on December 15, led by conductor Emmanuelle Haïm. If you’ve never seen the enormous oratorio, it’s a bucket-list opportunity to see the famous “Hallelujah Chorus” performed live.
Grammy-winning Chanticleer, a.k.a. the “orchestra of voices,” is sure to bring the house down on December 16 with stunning a cappella arrangements of the best Christmas music through history. That same week, Emmanuelle Haïm returns to lead three concerts from December 16 through 18, featuring the unbelievable Baroque vocal ensemble, Le Concert d’Astrée.
Six days out from Christmas, the massively popular Holiday Sing-Along will return for two performances on Saturday, December 19. The family-friendly concert welcomes hundreds of guests to come sing joyous renditions of your favorite Christmas carols… just make sure you book tickets ASAP, as this one’s known to sell out.
Finally, you can end the year on a high note at A Yacht Rock NYE with Grammy-winning Christopher Cross and the Pacific Jazz Orchestra on the evening of December 31.
If you have yet to start planning your holiday outings, an evening with the LA Phil is a memorable way to connect with the city’s top classical musical talent while enjoying the nostalgia of familiar holiday anthems.
