Los Angeles is seeing major new urban projects, from the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art to the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing. Among these developments, the Sixth Street PARC (Park, Arts, River & Connectivity Project), will include a soccer field funded by a $1 million donation from the TM23 Foundation, as reported by The Eastsider.
The project has been moving forward with construction underway for almost two years and is progressing toward completion this year. With landscaping, pathways, and infrastructure largely in place, the addition of a soccer field underscores the project’s emphasis on active recreation as well as a community space.
Sixth Street PARC project details

The Sixth Street PARC is a major public park being built at the base of the new Sixth Street Viaduct, which spans the Los Angeles River between Boyle Heights and the Arts District, with a total investment of approximately $60 million.
Construction broke ground in September 2023, following the opening of the replacement viaduct, and is expected to be completed by late 2026. Once finished, the park will cover about 12 acres of land underneath and adjacent to the bridge.
Some key features planned across the park include:
- Restrooms, a café, and lighting throughout the site to support daily use.
- Multiple sports fields (including the new soccer field) and additional multi‑purpose turf areas for informal play.
- Walking and biking paths to connect different parts of the park and link pedestrian circulation with surrounding neighborhoods.
- Dog play areas and outdoor fitness equipment to support a variety of recreational activities.
- Children’s playgrounds and water play or splash features for family use.
- Picnic and gathering areas, landscaping, trees, and shaded seating zones.
- A dedicated arts and performance plaza with space for events and cultural programming, located on the Arts District side.
