Registering to volunteer at LA28
LA28 has just updated its website with the latest news about volunteering for the Games. There are two options for prospective volunteers to register their interest with the LA28 Volunteer Crew:
- Volunteering as early as fall 2025: LA28 volunteers are already working around L.A. to support wildfire recovery, hunger relief, and youth sports in the community.
- Volunteering for the Games themselves in 2028: You may register your interest now, but the official application process for Games volunteer roles doesn’t kick off until summer 2026.
According to LA28, you don’t need to volunteer early in order to apply for 2028 Games roles, but “early involvement is encouraged.”
To register your interest, you need simply share your name, email, and country, as well as your preference for volunteering now, during the 2028 Games, or both. You must also attest that you have no criminal convictions and agree to the possibility of a background check.
Then, you’ll receive an email confirmation telling you to keep an eye on your inbox for the next steps.

What comes next?
As mentioned above, the volunteer process for LA28 Games roles begins in summer 2026. The best way you can stay informed is by registering your interest and subscribing to the LA28 newsletter.
While we still don’t have all the details for the official LA28 volunteer process, we can anticipate a few things based on Paris and Milano Cortina. You generally must be 18 years old to volunteer, be available for 9-10 days during the Olympics and Paralympics, and speak the host country’s language and/or English.
The selection process is highly competitive. At Paris 2024, only 45,000 volunteers were chosen from 300,000 applicants, 20% of whom were from foreign countries.
