Planning a Labor Day weekend trip to Malibu, Pacific Palisades or Topanga? There’s some good news for drivers: Caltrans will pause construction-related lane closures on Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard over the holiday weekend.
The closure pause begins at 6 a.m. Friday, September 4, and runs through 11:59 p.m. Monday, September 7. No lane closures related to the ongoing Palisades Fire recovery work are planned during that period.
Road closures resume after Labor Day
The break is temporary with construction scheduled to resume after the holiday.
On PCH, crews will continue recovery work near Las Flores Canyon Road, Sunset Boulevard, Pena Road and Tuna Canyon Road, with weekday lane closures possible between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Topanga Canyon Boulevard will also continue to see overnight construction, including one-lane traffic control between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights.
Even without construction closures, holiday traffic could still make the coastal roads busy. Drivers should check conditions before heading out using Caltrans QuickMap and stay alert in active work zones.
