Fans of the hit Netflix show and lovers of pop culture royalty, rejoice! If you’ve got deep pockets, you could soon get your hands on some of Princess Diana’s most iconic outfits. Yes, we’re talking about Lady Di herself, a fashion icon for anyone who grew up watching her on screen.
What items will be auctioned?
Julien’s Auctions has just announced what they’re calling the largest Princess Diana auction ever, with over 200 items up for grabs. Among the highlights is a floral silk day dress by Bellville Sassoon, worn by the Princess during her 1992 tour of southern Spain, a piece that alone is estimated to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000.
The auction will also feature clothing and historical artifacts from other members of the British royal family, including the late Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mother, and more, with some items dating back to the 19th century.
The money raised is going to a good cause!
True to Diana’s philanthropic spirit, the auction will benefit a good cause: part of the proceeds will go to Muscular Dystrophy UK, a charity that supports people living with over 60 muscle-wasting conditions. Founded in 1959, the organization funds research, provides care resources, and advocates for those affected.
When and where is the Princess Diana auction?
The live auction takes place Thursday, June 26, at The Peninsula Beverly Hills. Registration is now open on the Julien’s Auctions website.
Princess Diana’s legacy goes far beyond fashion. She was a groundbreaking advocate for humanitarian causes, especially in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS at a time when stigma and fear surrounded the disease. Beyond HIV, Diana supported numerous charities focused on homelessness, children’s welfare, and landmine victims.
