Las Vegas’ MSG Sphere is going viral for its mesmerizing and unreal visuals. Being coined as the largest sphere on Earth, this grand venue is covered in 1.2 million puck lights and can display up to 256 million colors.
Construction of the space began in 2019, and is set to open this fall. Although the venue itself isn’t open to the public just yet, the exterior of the sphere lit up for the first time on Fourth of July — and its mind-bending animations have taken the internet by storm ever since.
So far, the graphics have featured a giant eyeball, NBA basketball, fireworks, and so much more! One could only imagine what’s in store once guests can finally enter its doors.
“Once open, Sphere will host a wide variety of events, including concerts and residencies from the world’s biggest artists; Sphere Experiences from leading Hollywood creatives; and premier marquee events,” states Sphere Entertainment on their site.
The interior of the venue is set to have a floor to ceiling screen that wraps around the entire space in order to engulf and immerse audiences during shows. In fact, they’re kicking off their first shows this September in an iconic way with U2. The legendary band will be taking over the stage for a special run of shows marking their first live outing in four years. It’s going to be four nights full of milestones — in more ways than one!
If you can’t make it to the upcoming U2 concerts, not to worry! The Sphere also has other shows in store for the fall. Taking place in October, Postcard from Earth will be an exclusive Sphere Experience created to “take full advantage of the 22nd century technology inside…”
